Island Bound: Women Making History

In celebration of Women’s History Month, this pop-up exhibit was created as an educational companion to a concert by Del Sol Quartet, highlighting female voices of Angel Island. Featuring music by Shelley Washington, Reena Esmail and Tania León, alongside artwork by Flo Oy Wong and an exhibit celebrating Angel Island’s women curated by Andi Wong. Held in partnership with Angel Island Immigration Station Foundation (AIISF) on March 15, 2025, 12:00 PM – 1:00PM PST, Detention Barracks Museum, Angel Island, CA.

Women have long led the fight as activists and recorders of the truth of the immigrant experience on Angel Island.

Island Bound: Women Make History gathers, preserves and shares the stories of inspiring women whose collective action helped to carry Angel Island history forward into the future.
